Overview: This event is designed to provide personal insight into one of the most important events in a person’s life. The first part of the agenda will be a panel of people who have decided to retire and others who have retired. They will provide personal insight into this life-changing experience.
Part 2 will be a Fun Fair. Organizations and businesses will be available to answer questions you might have about: volunteering, part -time employment, money management, leisure time activities, etc.
This event is designed to get you started on another part of life’s journey. If you are a teacher, counselor, administrator, a member of the support staff, college professor or any other position in education you are invited.
You may bring one guest.
Part One ——— The Presenters
Dr. Nicholas C. Neupauer, President, Butler County Community College
Unretirement…The World Economic Forum recently discussed a new trend in the workforce -- the rise of 'unretirement.' Those already eligible to claim pensions or 401Ks are returning to the workforce for various reasons. Dr. Neupauer, who himself recently announced his retirement as the long-time President of BC3, will discuss the rise of 'unretirement' and how it can help organizations and pensioners alike.

Retiring is never an easy decision, especially when you love what you are doing. However, there are always several factors that go into making that final decision. Coming to peace with your decision is ultimately what I believe is critical to making a patient, confident decision. Retiring "to something" was also great advice that I had received early in my career. What it is that you "retire" to is vastly different from what others may call retirement.

I am a retired school administrator who retired at 30 years. I chose to continue working and took a position as a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Neshannock Township New Castle. I am excited to share with everyone my story regarding my early retirement and why I chose my new path.

A variety of organizations and businesses have been invited. They will have information about what they do and how you can get involved. Retirement is wonderful but you must keep active.
Instead of calling it a job fair this will probably be the first fun fair you have attended. You will have the opportunity to visit businesses and organizations who are here to offer you advice and information. They can become a resource for you in retirement.
My experience has been you may have done things when you were younger but now that you are retired you may have new questions about retirement. You are living in the present, but you need to plan for the future. If you do you will be more confident and content as you look forward.
Lunch is on your own---The BLT is one of my favorites!
Participants are encouraged to submit questions in advance. Questions must be submitted no later than May 14, 2024 Email them to hhevents@zoominternet.net By submitting questions you will help design the agenda. We want to meet your needs.

John G. Lees, MSW, LSW, Member & Family Advocate for Magellan Behavioral Health of Pennsylvania
John has been the Member & Family Advocate at Magellan of PA since 2016. In this role, John serves the Lehigh and Northampton counties as a point of connection between Magellan and members, their families, and other support individuals. John can also help to educate members about Magellan, advocate to meet their treatment needs, and help them navigate services. As a licensed social worker for over 23 years, John has experience working in a variety of settings, including outpatient behavioral health, residential treatment facilities, crisis intervention, juvenile detention, and schools. This experience provides him with a well-rounded approach to members’ and providers’ needs. John has been with Magellan of PA since 2004 working in a variety of roles including Clinical Care Management Supervisor and Director of Training. John is also the Chairman of the Magellan Autism Action Committee and Host of the new “Behavioral Health Matters Podcast” by Magellan of PA.

During this session John will provide an overview of the new Behavioral Health Matters Podcast and some of the topics covered. The Podcast’s Purpose:
- Promote positive mental health.
- Increase your understanding of behavioral health topics and services.
- Reduce stigma of behavioral health issues
Bryda L. Drumm LSW, H&SV, School Social Worker PK--12
Bryda Drumm is a Licensed Social Worker and Certified School Social Worker. Additionally, Bryda is certified as a National Social Emotional Learning Trainer through LionsQuest Inc. For over 17 years, Bryda has utilized her social worker degree, training, and knowledge while working for Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV. During her career at MIU IV, she has supported numerous children from ages 3-21 within a wide variety of educational settings with even wider educational, social, and emotional needs. Not only has she worked directly with students in the 27 school districts within Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer counties, but also with the students’ families, educational staff, and outside agency support staff.
At Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV, Bryda also has the role of a regional trainer in the areas of social emotional learning, suicide prevention, recognizing and reporting child abuse, returning to school following a brain injury, safety care, and de-escalation.
Presentation Title-- A Brief Overview of Mental Health in the Classroom
This session provides a brief overview of common childhood mental health diagnoses. Participants will learn signs and symptoms of common mental health conditions and explore strategies to support students in the classroom.
Participants will:
- Learn common childhood mental health diagnoses and statistics
- Recognize signs and symptoms of some mental health behaviors within the classroom
- Explore and identify strategies to support all student in the classroom
The final part of the event will be an ALL-STAR Panel discussion.
